Grand Saline Salt Festival

Whiskeyfish Salt Festival Concert

A few years ago, J.P. Fisher, armed with a guitar case full of songs, called up his brother Matt and told him of his idea to start a band. Matt was excited about the idea but wasn’t sure how it would work since they both had diverse musical tastes. After a few practice sessions all doubts were gone.

The band was formed...but still had no name…or a rhythm section. Matt knew a local drummer named Jonathon Wilson whom he thought would be the man for the job. J.P., Matt, and Jonathon went over the songs and jammed for a few hours and things seemed to click. The band played a few shows and wrote a couple songs, but there was still something missing.

whiskeyfishMatt talked to his friend Jacob Phillips about playing the bass. A week or two later, Jacob bought a bass and was now a member of the group. The guys liked their sound and the direction things were going so they decided it was time to name the band. There were two or three names being considered but only one that stuck….WHISKEYFISH.

From that point on the guys have done nothing but go forward. They are blessed to have a great group, fans, friends, and most importantly family to support them. They just finished recording their debut CD, set to hit local stores and radio stations in June.

Whiskeyfish is a group of four close friends with a shared vision of making honest music that fans will love and that they can be proud of. Their style of music is found somewhere between Pearl Jam and Merle Haggard. See for yourself why WHISKEYFISH is worth getting hooked on. Remember, this band is 75% from Grand Saline so they can't be too bad.
